Weddings are not meant to be perfect. They are meant to be beautiful enough for the bride and the groom and interesting enough for the guests. But first, it’s about the couple. However, if there are too many complains about the wedding, the couple most likely won’t enjoy the day either. So why not avoid the most common wedding guest complaints and enjoy your day?
The reality is that even the most perfect weddings come with little hiccups – but there are some common wedding planning mistakes that can be real disasters if you don’t know about them!
1. Incomplete information in the invitation
It all starts here. Wedding invitations are meant to contain enough details to help the invited guests find the wedding venue easily or at least a contact should be available on the invitation that guests can call for direction or any form of help.
2. A Long Wait Between Ceremony and Reception
In many cases, the Nikkai or church wedding ceremony and reception are located in two different places. This is just one of the unfortunate parts of venue scheduling and availability. If you’re using two different venues, ensure people are ongoing to direct your guests to the reception venue and keep the waiting time as short as possible.
3. Long Speeches
Toasts can be an amazing, fun heartwarming thing, especially when they are short and very precise but they can also be downright unbearable. Keep the speeches to the immediate family or bridal party and remind them to keep it short.
4. Bad Food
This is probably the most crucial part of making sure the wedding guests are happy during the reception. Even the quickest ceremonies can seem endless for those you’ve invited, and if you aren’t offering anything good. Choose your caterer wisely and take the time to taste every single item you’re going to serve ahead of the big day.
5. Boring MCs
Let’s even assume the food was bad. The sin is more forgivable if the MC for the event is fun and energetic who easily carries people along. Best bet is usually. to use a comedian so there is no downtime during the event. The MC should be able to introduce the couple and their guests to engaging games, dance competitions, etc during the wedding.
