Court wedding is by far the cheapest wedding anyone can have in Nigeria. If you decide to do just court wedding and no church/mosque, please note that ‘you’re very married’.
These are the four things you need to apply for your court wedding in Nigeria.
1. Photocopy of your birth certificate
Your birth certificate will be requested for to confirm you are of marriageable age. The minimum age is 18 so be sure you meet this requirement before heading to the registry.
2. Photocopy of Spouse’s birth certificate
This is required for the same reason as yours- to double check that he is old enough to wife you. Go along with the originals just in case they ask to see them but you’ll be required to submit just photocopies during your application.
3. Application fee
This is the payment required to get you married basically. We have written a guide here to let you know every possible thing you’ll be required to pay for.
4. Passport photograph
2 copies of your passport photographs will be requested for. That is, two of yours, and two of his. There are photographers within the registry that can quickly snap you if you don’t have your passports handy.
