It’s never easy going through a heartbreak especially when it’s your first. Sometimes we just have to go through it to realize that we deserve much more from a relationship. Unfortunately it’s not the nicest of feelings and is definitely not fun to experience.
As much as we might wish there was some magical piece of wisdom that could help us immediately heal and move on after a breakup, that’s simply not the case. It takes time but here are a few ways to ease through the pain.
It hurts really bad so don’t try fighting your feelings. Just let it all out, it’s okay to cry. Don’t stop until the tears stop coming out. You’re really hurt. You don’t need to pretend you’re fine when you’re really really not. Accept that you’re going to be going through some emotional turbulence for a bit, after all this is your first heartbreak.
Work it out
We don’t mean trying to work things out with whoever broke your heart, we mean exercising. Channel all that negative energy into exercising. Besides it being a good distraction, it’s also good for your physical health. Burn all your anger, frustration, and sadness away. A heartbreak can be your best motivation, either as a revenge body; make yourself look so good that he wished he never hurt you or gaining enough muscle to beat him up…just kidding.
Hang out with friends
While you will need time to wallow in your unhappiness, you also need to remind yourself why life is worth living. Don’t let that sadness consume you. Get out of the house, meet new people, or catch up with old friends. By socialising you realise that you spend less time sulking about him and more time living your best life.
Don’t reach out to him
Clear that long text you were about to send and drop your phone, now breathe. Remember you can do better than him. Don’t act desperate. You don’t need to be constantly reminded of him or know what’s going on in his life. If you’re constantly trying to keep in touch with your ex you’re not going to be able to move on, which will make your feelings of heartbreak and unhappiness much harder to bear.
Girl don’t stress it, before you know it he’ll be a thing of the past and you’ll look back and wonder why you ever felt hurt by him. Stay strong
