Thinking of how to style hats? A hat lover? You’re going to love this post!
Style star and all-around media maven, Stephanie Coker-Aderinokun, has become a hat connoisseur and we love it! Over the past couple of months, we have noticed her love for hats grow. From fedoras to berets, it seems there’s no hiding place for hats when Steph‘s around.
So, when a few of our friends were looking for how to style hats, we looked no further. Take a look at how Stephanie styled her hats with some helpful advice along the way!
Tip 1: Pick a bold colour
Hats are meant to elevate an outfit, not water the oomph down (that’s what flats are for). So if you’re going to wear a hat, get one in a bold and attractive colour. And what is more bold or attractive than red? We love how she paired the red with her rose gold matching set. Makes the Texas bammer don’t you think?
Tip 2: Or blend in
Let’s say you’re the type to shy away from bold colours. Well, you can take the monochrome route. Pick a hat that is the same or close to the colour of your top or dress. This would give a more laid back look and still look as fly as Steph.
Tip 3: Pick the outfit to match the hat
If you were to wear a beret, it would be best to dress preppy to go with the French accessory. In this case, Stephanie decided to style her wide-brim hat with a sleek suit. The combination gives the outfit a complete look and elevates Steph’s overall appearance. Why do we suddenly feel like watching the Godfather?
Tip 4: Mix textures
It’s too safe to play it safe sometimes. That’s why we are loving Steph’s latex beret with all our hearts. It complements her 90s vibe and matches the fabric of her skirt. Complete themed looks with a fancy hat and give it some edge with the texture and fabric.
Tip 5: You can never go wrong with black
You must have a black hat if you’re going to have hats at all. The black hat is like the white shirt or the perfect jeans – it’s a necessity. This signature piece can be used to spice up your Nigerian jersey or tone down a look.
