Mimi transitioned her look from trad to modern in a heartbeat and we are still in awe!
The ridiculous price tag on asoebi is known to every Nigerian and the fact that we probably get to wear it only once doesn’t help matters either. This is why the fashion hack Mimi pulled off over the weekend made us see things in a different light.
The fashionista attended #TTAFFAIR (Tomike Alayande’s wedding) in Iro and buba but with an unconventional twist to it. Her buba was more like a blouse with over-the-top puffy sleeves – Mimi sure loves drama on her sleeves. She completed her wedding look with gele, chandelier earrings, strappy heels, and a dewy face beat.
To transition her look from wedding to a chilled evening look, she traded her iro for jeans and completed her look with slippers, a cute bag, and curly side part hairdo.
We think this is a perfect way to re-rock all the asoebi pieces in our wardrobes. The key is to be strategic with styles. For blouses, that is quite easy as there are tons of functional asoebi blouse styles you can work with. But with skirts, we think midi pencil styles work best for everyday wears. However, fabric plays a huge role. Now you have one more factor to consider the next time you need to buy asoebi!
