Menswear-inspired fashion came out last night and we’ve got the photos to prove it.
The highly anticipated CFDA Awards 2018 held yesterday and indeed the stars came out! The Council of Fashion Designers of America held the coveted event in Brooklyn Museum and its red carpet was a fashion lituation.
Apart from the buzz surrounding Kim Kardashian-West receiving the first ever Influencer Award, we were here for the trends. And one that stood out was menswear-inspired fashion.
The ladies came to slay in androgynous accents and deconstructed tuxedos. We’d be doing you a disservice by not talking about it.
So sit back and let’s tell you who wore what.
Ciara in Monse
We doubt if anyone hates Ciara. But even if you do, you can’t deny she is a style icon. Ciara showed up to the CFDA Awards 2018 in a sexy Monse piece inspired by the traditional tux jacket. We love how it literally looks like the top half of the jacket was ripped off for a more sex appeal. This look is a 10 for us.
Kourtney Kardashian in Christian Siriano
Kourt looked all shades of glam at the CFDA Awards 2018 red carpet. Her bejeweled Christian Siriano tux definitely blinged up the night. If you’re a KUWTK fan then you know Kourtney is no stranger to menswear-inspired fashion. We’re glad to see her in her element.
Busy Phillips in Christian Siriano
Immediately we saw this, we knew we loved the entire look. Taking another Christian Siriano piece out for a sin is Hollywood actress Busy Phillips. First of all, the colour is ah-mazing.The floral print is reminiscent of Asian accents and the entire look is gold in our eyes.
Kate Blanchett in Monse
Monse makes an appearance on this list again, but this time on Ocean’s 8 star, Cate Blanchett. Now, there have been mixed reactions to Cate’s outfit, but we can’t lie, we’re here for it. Her outfit pays homage to the traditional tuxedo, but adds a twist. The bottom part of her outfit ha been remixed to include a reflective skirt wrapped with deconstructed pants. What can we say? It wouldn’t be a fashion awards without fashion risk takers.
Amandla Stenberg in Rosie Assoulin
She may be 19 years old, but Hunger Games star Amandla Stenberg is anything but immature when it comes to style. The acres rocked a 70s -inspired suit that shows she’s an old soul. We love the popping colour and loose fit. All that’s missing is some platform shoes and she’s ready for the time machine.
Fashion lovers tell us what you think. Did these women rock the menswear-inspired fashion trend well or do we need the fashion police? And if you’re into trends so much, how about checking out how to rock the athleisure trend.
