Last year, Cardi B broke into the music scene with her Grammy-nominated single, Bodak Yellow and it seems Yemi Alade wants to tap into her fame.
Since then, she has released an album and become the first female rapper with two number 1 songs on the billboard hot 100. After her Latin-trap single I Like It hit the number spot on the billboard chart, she typically celebrated the good news on Instagram.
Surprisingly, our very own Yemi Alade congratulated Cardi in the comments section saying:
“We need to do a song soon o! Congratulations… you keep killing em. God bless you… we keep pushing.”
Considering the fact that Yemi Alade is currently on the biggest (female) musicians within and outside Nigeria, this ‘collab’ doesn’t sound like a reach. While Cardi and Yemi have distinctly powerful styles, this idea could work – if well produced and written. At any rate, it won’t be a bad idea seeing one of our own work with the unstoppable Cardi B.
