Issa Rae is the talented actress who gave us the epic line “I am rooting for everybody black” at the 2018 Emmys. Now, she is putting her money where her mouth is with her upcoming comedy sketch series featuring all black women.
Issa Rae has always caped for black women and her hit series, Insecure, features black women front and centre. Starting 2019 on a high note, the actress is set to produce upcoming HBO comedy series, A Black Lady Sketch Show, the first comedy series to be written by, directed by and starring black women.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Issa will co-produce the project alongside the show’s creator, Robin Thede, who will also write and star in the episodes. They will also be joined by Lauren Ashley, another talented producer who has worked on several BET and Vh1 shows.
Variety reports will feature narrative sketches performed by a core cast of black women, including Thede, as well as celebrity guests. Although the premiere date has yet to be announced, we’re hyped for the show regardless because we will finally get to laugh at jokes that aren’t razz stereotypes of how women act.
