Here Are Some Of Our Favourite Songs By Female Nigerian Artists In 2018 ZUMI
No thanks to our male-dominated music industry, the most Googled Nigerian songs this year came from men. In spite of this, 2018 was a great year for female Nigerian artists.

Female Nigerian artists deserve better from the industry and even from those of us who consume the music. Nevertheless, more women are springing up in the industry and changing the narrative one track at a time. Although Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade sit atop the afro pop genre with their other male counterparts, other ladies like Teni, Simi, Niniola, Lady Donli and others have dominated their respective genres this year.

Like Tiwa who became the first female recipient of the MTV EMA ‘Best African Act’ award, Teni also won the ‘Rookie of The Year’ award, the first woman to win in a while. This year, we also witnessed Yemi Alade’s brilliant new sound while Simi dropped stunning visuals for her debut album, Simisola before ushering in a new era. Niniola earned a much-deserved BET nod while Falana made a comeback after a four-year hiatus.

Like we said earlier, 2018 was a brilliant year for these women, so we have a curated a list of some of the best songs they released this year. Here are some of them:

1. “How I Feel” – Yemi Alade

2. “Askamaya” – Teni

3. “Ride Or Die” – Falana
