We earlier told you how some of our faves including Tiwa Savage and Wizkid got the opportunity to perform on the same stage as Beyonce at the just-concluded Global Citizen Festival in South Africa.
Beyonce is the gift that keeps on giving, and like everything she does, her performance at the Global Citizen Festival was nothing short of perfection. From her flawless rendition to the newly-arranged “Halo”, to her affectionate duet with Ed Sheeran.
Surprisingly, the set also included a short video interlude featuring Tekno’s “Pana” in addition to a quick homage to the iconic Fela Kuti – something she first did during her Coachella performance earlier this year. Not only did she stun us with her taste in our music, the track to her “Run The World” performance was also mashed up with the viral “Kupe Dance” song.
Beyonce is the queen of mashups and transitions, and anyone who has been fortunate to watch her performance knows how she sometimes incorporates un serrated songs to her set. Given Beyonce’s nod to afropop, hopefully, we’ll get a collaboration with a Nigerian artist in the nearest future.
Check out “Pana” and “Kupe” in her set below:
