Adesua Etomi and her husband, Banky W have once again featured in another much-hyped Nollywood film, only this time, they won’t be playing lovers.
Initially, Anakle Films teased Banky W and Rahma Sadau as friends who possibly became lovers in the first clips from Up North. While Adesua’s Instagram posts from the movie left us curious, we now have a little insight into her character. Although we’ve come to love Adesua Etomi and Banky W as a couple, we’re glad the film’s producers geared away from their relationship and paired them with other actors.
In the newly-released teaser, Adesua plays the gorgeous Zainab, a young Hausa woman who falls in love with Sadiq, an NYSC corp member. The new teaser looks like something out of a romantic music video, with the two lovers stealing glances at each other. This clip adds more dimension to what to expect from the movie – finding love in the hopeless place that is the NYSC service year.
Up North tells the tale of the exuberant Bassey Otuekong, an IJGB deployed to serve in Bauchi as punishment for defying his father. With his service year being as crappy as anyone can imagine, he surprisingly falls in love with his environment and even refuses to return home as an act of rebellion.
Up North is out in cinemas on December and while we wait for the full trailer, watch the teaser below.
