Teenage skincare tips aren’t difficult to find…if you’re on ZUMI beauty’s page. Today we are showing you how to take care of those pesky skin issues with five key ingredients.
Being a teenager can be hard sometimes, and it gets even harder when you have to deal with skin issues like acne and pimples. Truth be told it really isn’t your fault…it’s just that time. Your hormones are raging and all over the place and this is wreaking havoc on your skin. One minute it’s dry and patchy, the next it’s oily and packed to the roof with pimples. We understand. And to make it worse, the fact that your skin keeps changing makes it hard to find and stick with a solution that works.
Well, we might have a solution for you. Actually, we might have five. Today, we are dishing on teenage skincare tips, centring on five main ingredients:
Salicylic Acid (BHA)
This acid is one of our favourites. It helps unclog pores by removing the top layer of the skin. As it does this, it takes with it excess oil, sebum, dirt and general materials that clog the pores.
We recommend using products that contain salicylic acid on blackheads and whiteheads. In case you’re wondering, blackheads are pimples that have a dark or black tip, while whiteheads have a white tip.
Retinol has proven to be a great multitasker. It is sometimes referred to as Vitamin A and works wonders to improve uneven skin tone. It helps with plumping the skin by assisting the production of collagen and does its bit when it comes to exfoliating.
An added bonus is its ability to fight off free radicals that attack your skin daily. It’s a wonder agent you need in any skin solution.
Note: If you have eczema, psoriasis or rosacea, we recommend you stay away from retinol as it could worsen the condition.
Granted, this baby has quite a smell, but when it comes to benefit, the smell can be overlooked. Sulfur recently resurfaced in the skincare industry and looks like it’s here to stay.
It has real horsepower when it comes to eliminating excess oil and acne. And works wonders in getting rid of black and whiteheads.
Tea tree oil
We love our oils here at ZUMI Beauty HQ, and tea tree oil is one of our favourites. This antibacterial oil helps remove impurities and works great for getting rid of acne.
One of our teenage skincare tips here is to always use it diluted. Using it fully concentrated can have negative effects on your skin and can make your condition worse.
If you’re dealing with large pores, then this is for you. This astringent toner helps reduce the size of your pores which will lead to less oil on your skin. We recommend using it fully concentrated if you have really oily skin. However, if your skin is less oily or dry, try a diluted version that has been combined with waters.
