Harmattan season is upon us and we all know, this means one thing… cold, haze, dusty and dry weather. Your skin should be well protected from this harsh weather condition and here’s how.
Guess what time it is? It’s Harmattan O’clock!
When Harmattan comes down, your skin care regimen should go up so you’re not left with dirty, flaky and cracked skin when it’s all over.
Here are tips to keep your skin healthy during the Harmattan season.
1. Stay Hydrated
Due to the dryness of the season, your body tends to lose fluid at a faster rate. Constantly consume water to stay hydrated during your daily activities. You can also download a water drinking reminder app on your phone that notifies you when it’s time to take a gulp.
Your lips and skin will need extra attention this period. Your most important beauty products should be your moisturizer and your lip balm right now to avoid chapped lips and cracked skin. Go for moisturizing creams and soaps to keep your skin and face especially moisturized during this season.
Shave off the dead and dry skin cells with exfoliation. Use a gentle body scrub twice a week. However, try to avoid over-exfoliation as it will make the skin oils be depleted and dryness of the skin will recur. You can use exfoliates like sea salt, apricots, and brown sugar.
4. Use natural oils
Use natural oils like Coconut, argan or lavender to support the new skin formation and act as a protective barrier against burning. You only need a few drops of oil in your body moisturizer for some extra protection against the sun.
